Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR) - 2019

The 2019 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR) provides valuable information on the threats facing organizations today.  The DBIR is produced by Verizon with a collaboration of many security entities.  The following is a summary of finding that relate to the human element of security.
Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report - DBIR
Through the analysis from Verizon, and the report contributors, several threats emerge.  Some of the results are outlined below.

33% of breaches included social attacks
15% of breaches were misuse by authorized users
43% of breaches involved small business victims
32% of breaches involved phishing
71% of breaches were financially motivated
29% of breaches involved use of stolen credentials
94% of malware was delivered via email

As the data shows, organizations should be diligent about helping improve employee security awareness.  This data is confirmed by the annual Symantec Internet Security Threat Report as well.  The human element of security is difficult to address. Without a robust security awareness program, an organization is likely to fall victim at some point to a cybersecurity attack.   PhishingBox provides tools and resources to help organizations establish or improve employee security awareness.  Whether you want a to-it-yourself phishing platform, or a fully-managed option though our Socially Secured program, we have you covered.
