Smishing Awareness Training

Smishing attacks can be easy to spot if you know what to look for:

• An unknown number sends you a text with a link in it
• There's an urgent request to drive you to click the link
• Personal information like street address and current job may be mentioned to disarm your hesitancy
• Asking for login credentials to access an account on your behalf while impersonating a support associate from your phone's manufacturer or provider
• Developed attacks can include a phishing email, and even a vishing call, to set the stage for the smishing text send

Avoid opening any texts from unknown numbers and NEVER click any links sent via text unless you are certain of the source's legitimacy

While most telecommunications companies filter out text spam and calls with malware, but there's still a chance you could be compromised if you engage and provide information
